Cracks in the Concrete Canvas

“The Essence of Adolescent Life in New York City is not hurt, pain, anger, violation, abuse, betrayal, or hatred. Those are things that happen to us. They are not who we are. Who we are, the essence of us, is what we decide to do with those things put upon us. It is our spirit, our persistent and undeniable belief that makes us who we are. Because even when we face awful things, we still hope for better days. We still try to love and believe that we will be loved. We still believe that love is important. We still believe that we will be someone some day. We still believe in the future.”

Cracks in the Concrete Canvas was performed by 56 participants at the Lucille Lortel Theater for approximately 1,200 audience over four performance nights.

Media coverage included NY1’s New Yorkers of the Week, IMNY – a piece written and produced by some cast members for Downtown Community Television’s youth series ‘IMNY’ on Channel 25.
